The Followers of Chris Matthews

As I have mentioned from time to time, I frequent a site, SodaHead which hosts polls. The most frequent one to catch my attention, ‘Did Scott McClellan lie?’

One can only imagine the number of responses from the Bush haters. Last time I checked over 1,200 responses. The majority of those responded, screaming for Bush and Cheney’s heads. They did not posit any real evidence that such trips to the guillotine were warranted only spouted the tripe from the lips of the likes of MSNBC’s Chris Matthews.

My speculation is that Matthews did not escape adolescence when his hero, JFK was assassinated. On more than one occasion, I have heard him mention the trauma he experienced during that period. Matthews like many others on the Kool-Aid express are searching for the promised Camelot. Did you catch my aforementioned position? The experts have yet to find it. Or in short, it did not exist, nor did a flesh and blood King Arthur.

The followers of Obama and Matthews share a common bond. They believe in Nirvana. Somewhere beyond GW lies a political system which will provide them free milk and honey. For many of them, I suspect they would rather have free pot instead. Only a person on hallucinogens or trapped in adolescence believes in the tooth fairy and the resurrection of Freddy Mercury’s bath house era.

One cannot close out a discussion of the derangement of this group of self loathers without the mention of Naomi Wolf, acclaimed author and historical revisionist. How can any followers of Matthews and Wolf be anything but Kool-Aid zombies? People with very little awareness of history make very poor analysts of the present.

For the answer—Did Scott McClellan lie? Who knows. Scott probably knows if the edited version of his book is his work or that of an editor. Scott will one day come to terms with his published work. The answer may lie in his own suicide on the day reality comes crashing down.

Either he lied to the press or he lied in the book? He will have to sort that out. Either way, he can be considered at best a dishonest man. And why, if he betrays himself, does he wish to betray others? Is that noble? “I am a scoundrel, and so is he and he and he.”

Does one find salvation in the incrimination of others? Obama believes we find it in socialism. Where did Scott McClellan think he would find his? My idea is that he has not found it and may never. In the process, he may have placed democracy at risk.

We impeached Bill Clinton for repeated violations of our trust. Were he not president, both he and HR would be convicted felons. George Bush’s fate may be far worse. On that happening, we will never put the union back together.

Democracy is a fragile thing. We cannot toss it about like an old shoe.
