The younger brother of US Senator Mary (Louisiana Purchase) Landrieu, Mitch Landrieu continues the family tradition becoming Mayor-Elect of New Orleans. Their father Maurice (Moon) Landrieu served as mayor of the city for 8 years before joining the Carter Administration as Director of Housing and Urban Development.
Landrieu will need all his genetic political skills to raise New Orleans from the rubble pile left by Ray Nagin. Corruption is a tradition in New Orleans and part of being successful is knowing who to pay off and when. New Orleans can hope he learned well from his father and sister.
