Czechoslovkia August 1968
It was August 1968, I was in Berlin, the wire started chattering. The Soviets were invading Czechoslovakia. Being surrounded by Russian and German ground and air forces we were not sure if we would be next. Fortunately, it was over quickly.
Living in a city encompassed by a communist dictatorship and it’s puppet led to my feeling antagonistic toward, yet fearful of a group of individuals who believed their rights superceded everyone else’s. For those of us left with memories of Berlin and communism, the world seems a much different place than it did before I left the U.S. in the Spring of 1967. For the first time in my life, fear was introduced. Until then, I was nine feet tall and bullet proof.
When I listen to the politicians and political experts on TV, I wonder where they were during that period. Did any of them read history? Have any of them researched anything of the formative years of the Soviet Union. Have they never heard of Lenin, Stalin, Krushchev, Breshnev?
Do they remember a hapless JFK being humiliated by them? Who are these bozos running our country and giving us advice? Do they not understand the drive to rebuild the Soviet Union?
“Let’s talk to them.” “We need a dialogue.” “What they are doing is wrong.” Try those three statements for complete buffonery. Sounds like obama is coaching them. What a joke.
Do they not remember that within the last year, the old Soviet long range bombers have had over flights on several occasions? Did they not read that the Russians are considering putting those bombers in Cuba? Was there no awareness to the mention of Chavez allowing those same bombers and missiles into Venezuela?
Did GW not realize that stepping into Russia’s backyard with a missile defense system would have consequences? Was there any understanding what Georgia and the Ukraine being in NATO would mean? Is there a person alive who does not know that Europe is dependent on Russia for natural gas?
Let’s take a breath here. Whew! Some days I think the world has gone crazy. The Russians invading Georgia is not part of that concern. That was to be expected. What seems insane is our reaction to it, along with the citizens of the U.S. being enamored with King Buffoon. Yes, he is no more than a court jester being advertised as monarch.
Note to citizens, “we are broke.”
Note to citizens, “the Russians are not broke.”
Note to citizens, “Europe will not respond beyond saying “stop that.”
Note to citizens, “you do not back your President and the Russians understand that.”
Note to citizens, “we as a nations have become weak and soft.”
Note to citizens, “the Russians understand that.”
This is a wake up call. Time to sell the SUV, cut out the free ride to those who will not work, time to take back the government from who would have us living in the poverty of communism ie, Cuba, Old Soviet Union, and Eastern Block countries.
Yes, I may be paranoid and a “right wing nut.” Someone needs to step up and speak otherwise we will be experiencing a change in our government, either from overthrow by socialists internally or invasion. Sounds far fetched? How long does it take a bomber to reach Miami from Cuba? How many minutes will it take a launched missile from Venezuela.
Once when men of iron will ran this country, by that I am not referring to gender but attitude, the Soviets knew we would render the earth barren rather than become their captives. Today I doubt that attitude exists in many corners of the U.S. Where I live the population would fight to the last man but this is an exception.
What is the future you see for your children and grandchildren?
