I thought you liked the Fair Tax
The U.S. has refused to pay the 50 million pound VAT claim against a new building in the UK. Why not? The Value Added Tax should be celebrated by everyone as the savior of the day for over taxed citizens. So, why aren’t we as a nation ponying up the extra funds in London?
On top of income tax in the UK citizens pay dearly through the VAT. Food in restaurants have a Value
Added Tax. Can you imagine the bill for a Big Mac in NYC? There is the cost for the burger, then city tax, then another 15% for the VAT. Can you see why everything in Europe cost so much? It’s that lovely Fair Tax.
Regardless of what any politician tells you Fair Tax will not eliminate other taxes. It just won’t happen. No nation on the planet has lived up to that promise. Congress will not give up its cookie jar. Nor will the states roll over for a piece of the national fair tax.
Think local. Once there’s a national consumption tax, even more power goes to Washington DC. More money to allocate to ACORN and pet project to build bridges and airports. If you want smaller government pay smaller taxes to them. No I am not advocating not paying taxes. I am trying to point out the lack of a solution in the Fair or Value Added Tax.
