Pirates 3-D Not the Ticket

Johnny in the Deep End

Some might like to see Johnny Deep’s career hitting the skids. And, the recent 3-D Pirates could be just the vehicle to send it there. But, then one doesn’t know Jack, or in this case Johnny. He’s probably finished two movies, one featuring him as a priest about to be canonized, while another casts him in some dark brooding role.

Mary Poppins He Ain’t

No one would ever mistake Depp’s work as a modern attempt at Jimmy Stewart. Both actors were handsome for their time, have/had broad range of roles and talents, but, Depp’s just a half bob off plump to be the Mr. All American Stewart. I do believe Depp could do justice to Stewart’s famous scene in “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington”.

Owensboro to Heaven

And I don’t mean hollywood- I’m talking the real deal. Are we taking bets on St. Peter’s review of Pirates 3-D as a starting point for discussion on Depp’s worthiness to pass the pearly gates? The resume Depp would bring with him might create interesting cafe chat, but, hardly a repertoire for the heavenly.

“Wait, before you cast Depp down into the depths, give him one more chance to flash that smile and introduce us to a darker side of ourselves.”

That might enough for redemption.
