National Healthcare

hospitalnationalhealthNo, it’s not the name of a new filly contesting for this year’s Derby. It’s a conservatives nightmare. The heads up came from the Intellectual Redneck. Make sure you check out his blog. http://bloggingredneck.blogspot.com/.

“One thing in the bill that went mostly unnoticed was a new bureaucracy called the Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research.”

In case you forget, you can always find people such as IR and bloggers I read on one of the topic pages. For example political has all the articles tabbed political. On that page are links to blogs such as The Lonely Conservative.

Back to business–

The Stimulus Bill has national health care stuck in. Again, the key to gaining and holding power is by hitching people to programs. If the average person gets health care or partial health care from a program created and supported by a party, that party has very little chance of loosing power.

With the cap on Federal welfare payments to states having been removed, the door is open for welfare again. With many of the programs put forth by the new admin under the guise of Stimulus the thresholds have been raised. This moves more and more middle income citizens into federal programs. Before you quit your job, giving up control over you life may have some dire consequences down the road.

This article from the Wall Street Journal Online should send chills down your back. If they go up your leg, I suggest you leave now and turn on MSNB. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123318915075926757.html

When the government provides health care or benefits they also have the power to determine who receives what, and when. Stories from Europe and the UK abound of people not being able to get timely treatment because of long waiting periods or qualifications. Why do we think our system will be any different?

In a discussion about the recent ice/snow storm someone told me that getting unemployment had become very difficult in Missouri. As a construction worker her husband gets laid off periodically during the winter months. For short periods he is eligible for benefits. In the state of Kansas they are no longer sending out checks but I.O.U.’s. Try cashing one of those at the Walmart.

Do not forget– if the government giveth, the government can taketh away.
